The Patient Safety Portal online service is a comprehensive solution developed in collaboration with the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare to support the implementation of the Patient Safety Through Skill program. The long-term goal of the program is to halve the number of adverse events caused by medical treatment by 2020. The online Patient Safety Portal service will be used to develop a patient safety culture and improve quality of care in order to meet national goals.
For better patient safety in collaboration with the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare
In 2011, the National Institute for Health and Welfare launched the Patient Safety Through Skill program for the purpose of supporting the implementation of the national patient safety strategy. The key objective of the program was to ensure a uniform set of competencies on core issues related to patient safety in Finland.
Qreform contributed to the initiative by developing the Patient Safety Through Skill e-learning program for health care professionals, in collaboration with the National Institute for Health and Welfare. The e-learning program consists of ten modules, created in accordance with the WHO Patient Safety Curriculum Guidelines.
So far, over 130,000 health care professionals have completed the e-learning
The online Patient Safety Portal service enables health care and social services personnel to complete the basic and refresher modules of the Patient Safety Through Skill e-learning course, as well as maintain their professional competence through topical themed courses.
The e-learning courses provide plenty of practical examples of typical patient safety risks and various methods of managing them in your own work. The exercises help learners to think about their own ways of working, teamwork skills, and safe practices to ensure patient safety.
The Patient Safety Portal is used by practically all Finnish public-sector units as well as many private service providers.
World-class training
The e-learning course is available in Finnish, Swedish, and English. Successful collaboration in this project has resulted in high-quality training that is globally unique and has attracted international attention to Finnish expertise in developing patient safety.
